Pathways to Wave Rock

The Shires of Bruce Rock, Corrigin, Kondinin, Kulin, Narembeen and Quairading promote themselves under the banner of Roe Tourism and together are creating a Pathway to Wave Rock.

Enjoy fascinating scenery, huge granite outcrops, vast horizons and clear night skies. Observe wheatbelt farming as you traverse the region. Enjoy the wildflowers and fauna in the remnant bushland adjacent the granite outcrops while you enjoy a picnic.

The region takes its name from Western Australia's first Surveyor General, John Septimus Roe, who explored the area in 1836 and again from 1848-49.

Huge granite outcrops hold a strong fascination for residents and visitors. Kokerbin Rock is the third largest monolith in Australia. Wave Rock has become a focal point for both Australian and overseas visitors.

Early explorers took their bearings and selected granite rocks as campsites. Good water could be found nearby and there was feed for their horses. Sandalwood cutters followed. Later the surrounding areas were cleared for farmlands.

The Open Wheatbelt, Pathways to Wave Rock Trail offers travel alternatives to reach the iconic tourism attraction in the Wheatbelt, Wave Rock.
