From the recycled Cummins Theatre at Merredin to the tiny bank at Shackleton there are surprises everywhere. Art and craft exhibitions are held throughout the region with galleries and craft shops in a number of towns. In 2008 the Merredin Fine Arts Society is celebrating 40 years of endeavour with an Exhibition on October 25th at Country Nostlagia Gallery, Bates Street, Merredin.

You can touch the Aboriginal history at interpretive sites in the area Including Mulka caves at Hyden and Totadgin Conservation Park at Merredin.

Follow in the footsteps of the colonial explorations of Surveyor Roe or Hunt by visiting the wells and trig points they left behind.

Learn of the frustrations of trying to keep rabbits out of the agricultural regions with the Rabbit Proof Fence. You can follow near the footsteps of the "fence runners" who used camels to help look after the fence. One of these was the Author Arthur Upfield, author of the Boney series of detective stories.
