Great Eastern Highway

Travelling along the Great Eastern Highway from Yilgarn Shire in the east to Cunderdin Shire in the west you travel from the pastoral mining region through some of the most productive grain lands in the world.

The towns and hamlets of Southern Cross, Merredin, Hines Hill, Doodlakine, Kellerberrin, Tammin, Cunderdin and Meckering offer a warm welcome to the traveller and a variety of attractions to tempt you to stay longer.

Merredin is the largest centre between Northam and Kalgoorlie and offers a range of accommodation and amenties for visitors.

Promotion of this area is undertaken by the Wheatbelt - East Regional Organisation of Councils - WEROC.

The Wheatbelt Central Map and Visitor guide will help you to explore the area and if you want to get slightly off the main highway consider following the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail. This will take you back in time and also introduce you to contemporary issues such as salinity, and attractions such as the Kellerberin Art Space.
